Of course they are going to say that! I think what happens is that people who are otherwise inactive hear it's a good idea, but refuse to progress into it over time and overdo, trying to get into the full squat the first time they attempt it. Then they injure something, go to a doctor or certain other professional, who asks them how it happened and then tells them to never do it again, probably recommends rest and to take two of some pills every day and come back in a few weeks. It's almost a script. The odd part is that the sufferers take this as gospel despite the condition not improving, yet refuse to believe there are other solutions. I have come to the conclusion a lot of it is people being very out of touch with their own bodies combined with not wanting to have to do any research or progressive work to do things.

I've been using the Defy for about 7 months. I saved some money by going wired and no underglow. I use the per key RGB for layer identification and felt the underglow would just be distracting. The wireless might have been nice to have but I work 100% at a dual monitor workstation, so not worth the upcharge. Comfort and desk layout has been a major upgrade. I'm not super fast, but I do touch type and I love staggered columnar keys. It took about a week for it to feel right, two weeks to be about full speed. I use superkeys and macros in all my layers and find it much easier than when I used a separate macro board.

I overreleased my SCM, while trying to address some TMJ issues. While I was able to manually release the SCM, it triggered my TMJ even more, and also, hurt my shoulders and neck. Once I started this exercise, it started to balance things out. I also felt my molars more prominently, so doing this helps put the lower jaw in the correct position.

As someone with truly wide feet, 4E bordering larger on my right foot, none of them are really "wide". They have an anatomical toe box and that is a distinction that I wish more people would make. To be precise, I am a 9.5 4E on a Brannock and needed an 11 in Lems boulder boot grip to get my width. Now, to be fair, these are really closer to a size 10 in conventional shoes (length wise their insole is the same as most of my 10 EEE/EEEE sports shoes) but the width at the forefoot is 111.1mm (measured from the upper) and my foot is 114.5 without socks, under no load and at the beginning of the day. Sizing up further adds too much length. Anyway, of all the barefoot shoes I have tried most of their width is in the toe box, which is great for splay on a normal to slightly wide foot but that is where I feel it ends. As an aside, I got the Boulder Boot Grips and wish I'd have gone with the regular waterproof ones. These have a thick slab of eva between the outsole and midsole that compressed over time, held its form and essentially created arch support that I didn't want. I will have to stay away from any of the "grip" models. My current boot is the Jim Green African Ranger Barefoot. It is a true 3E plus a stitch down construction, so it is pretty close to a 4E and going up half a size basically gave me everything I needed. However, these things are ultra-high volume so I could see that being an issue for many, many people. I am a 4E, as I said, with a high instep and high arches so it is fine. For others, maybe not. Also, they don't have any ground feel, at all. They are flexi, for what they are and comfy though. I did remove the sock liner and added a 3mm veg tan insole since the inside wasn't finished and it was ripping up my socks. That brings it up to like a 14(ish)mm stack height. Just thought I'd share my experience so far. Anyway, I enjoyed the comparisons!

I’m 70 and just started a couple of months ago having hip pain. My left hip is way worse than the right. Blood pressure medication I’ve been reluctantly taking for almost 2 years makes all my muscles in my trunk and legs stiff and spasm. It’s very discouraging as I’ve been so active walking, remodeling my house, painting and gardening. I’m having a hard time putting weight on the worse leg in order to exercise the other. Please advise. Thanks so much.

Just did 8 days out of 11 of interior housepainting as a gig worker. More painting work could come at any time. Pain triggered by crouching to paint at floor boards appears on the posterior side of the area of the L5/S1 joint, then develops out laterally and symmetrically to the top-posterior part of the ischial crest and then eventually (after a day or so) to the whole sacrum (the aponeurosis?). The pain began during the first day, and then I had to go through all those other 7 days of painting on top of that (😓), all the while trying to do my best with an hour of yoga once home every day (lots of high cobra, pigeon pose, hamstrings) plus diclofenac cream. Been thinking about it this whole time as something in my hip and pelvic muscles (though no idea where), and only due to crouching. But now that I think about it, thanks to your video, perhaps my pain is additionally connected to all the overhead work painting involves and that possibly straining my lats (rollering walls and reaching way above head to brush paint tops of walls)…. I actually never feel uncomfortable when doing those activities, but still…I spend the bulk of the hours doing all that stuff…One clue is the fact that since this spree of painting gigs started, when sleeping in bed overnight, my whole lower back has been really tight and painful…. And also the clue that the Simple Lat Stretch goes all the way down to my ischial ridge very near where some of that pain is. Thanks for pointing this out. I'll keep working these stretches in addition to the open hip extension from your video on hip pain while sleeping and the outer hip exercise #1 from your Do This Instead video (all really hit a spot!). Very grateful to have a sense of direction as to what I've been missing. Really. Thanks-a-million!
